ST. ISIDORE

MEMORIAL: MAY 15

St. Isidore was born in Madrid, Spain in the 11th century. He was a poor farmer who worked the land of a wealthy man. He was known to be very prayerful and was accused of staying in the chapel too long during the work day. He married a young woman named Mary and they had a son. Unfortunately, he died in his youth after which Isidore and Mary discerned to no longer have sexual intercourse. 

St. Isidore’s sanctity is centered around his simple devotion to God and his work. Many miracles were attributed to him and it is said that angels were seen working the fields with him. He died at the age of 60 and his body was found to be incorrupt. He is the patron saint of agricultural workers.
