WHY "PRIME SOIL"?
Soil is a basic element found throughout scripture. In the beginning of Genesis, God creates Man from the soil of the Earth. In Exodus, Moses removes his shoes because he is standing on holy ground. In 2 Kings, Naaman the Syrian whom Jesus references in the Gospel of Luke, takes the soil of Israel back to Syria so that he might worship God properly in thanksgiving after being healed of leprosy. In Matthew and Luke we find the parable of the sower who spreads seed on many different types of soil hoping it will bear fruit. The Bible is prime with other soil illusions throughout its pages. One of the Latin words for soil is humus from which we get the words humility and humanity. Each lent, with the application of ashes to our head, we are reminded of our humanity of being made from the soil and being called to humility in front of the God of the universe, our Creator. After Lent, we rejoice in Thanksgiving at the Euharistic table during the Easter Triduum for the coming of our salvation. For God has taken those whom He formed from the soil of the Earth, and made them ‘a little less than a god, crowned him with glory and honor.’ (Psalm 8). At Prime Soil by Decided Excellence Catholic Media, we recognize in humility that God has given us the eternal gift of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ and His Church. He has taken his lowly creation and raised us to heirs of His divine life. We are a collection of writers and creators who offer our sacrifice of thanksgiving through spreading good media of our witness to Jesus Christ as a light in the darkness. Finally, we offer our witness through the power of the Holy Spirit who is constantly at work sowing the seeds of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in human hearts. We strive daily for the Gospel to take root in the Prime Soil of our own hearts, as the Holy Spirit removes the thorns and the rocks of sin and temptation. We participate in the mission of the Holy Spirit by sharing the fruits and blessings that God has given us in abundance to help create Prime Soil in the hearts of our readers.
Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
- Psalm 126: 5-6
But as for the seed that fell on rich soil, they are the ones who, when they have heard the word, embrace it with a generous and good heart, and bear fruit through perseverance.
- Luke 8:15
