St. Faustina was born to a poor family in Poland in 1905. As a young girl, she had a desire to enter religious life, but was initially forbidden by her parents. Eventually, she had a vision at the age of 19 telling her to go to Warsaw. She dropped everything and would eventually find a convent that would allow her to enter.
During her time in the convent, she experienced visions of Jesus who spoke to her about His Divine Mercy. Sr. Faustina told her confessor who had her psychologically evaluated. Once she passed the evaluation, he became her biggest advocate, urging her to write down all that she heard. Because of her, we have St. Faustina’s diary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and the Image of Divine Mercy. St. Faustina died of illness at the age of 33, and she is the patron saint of mercy.
