ST. COSMAS & ST. DAMIAN

MEMORIAL: SEPTEMBER 26

Sts. Cosmas and Damian were twin brother doctors who lived in the third century. They were known for giving medical attention to anyone who needed it without charging them for it. They were arrested during the persecutions of Diocletian and suffered much torment, but refused to denounce their Christian faith. They were finally beheaded and were eventually placed in the Roman Canon of the Mass for their intercession during the Eucharistic prayer. Sts. Cosmas and Damien are the patron saints of pharmacists.
