ST. PETER CHRYSOLOGUS

St. Peter Chrysologus was born in Imola, Italy, in the late 4th century. He was an educated man who eventually became a deacon. He was known for his preaching and was given the nickname ‘Chrysologus’ because of his ‘golden tongue’. He was made bishop of Ravenna, Italy, and led his people instilling in them good morality and care for the poor. He was known for his short, practical homilies that focused on Truth. He died at the age of 70, and later became a Doctor of the Church.
