Joe Dougoveto was born and raised in a small town in the rural Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He is married to Mary Ellen, and they live on a small homestead in Southeastern Michigan. They have eight children between the ages of 15 and 6 months.
Joe attended Franciscan University where he studied accounting. He is a certified public accountant and works in the field of federal taxes. Early in his career Joe had the opportunity to work as an accountant for a Benedictine monastery in Central Italy. The experience of Benedictine life made a profound impression on him – through the experience of silence and learning about the relationship between work and prayer. In his free time Joe enjoys animal husbandry, reading books on philosophy and psychology, and spending time working on projects with his family.
